Groundwater Modeling
TGI has extensive educational and professional experience with analytical and numeric groundwater flow models. Utilizing finite-difference MODFLOW models in both command line and graphical user interfaces, as well as analytical models in custom built excel datasheets, our understanding of how to mathematically represent groundwater flow and occurrence is second to none. We have wide-ranging experience evaluating and modifying TWDB-approved groundwater availability models (GAMs) in order to assess potential impacts due to pumping, assess long-term groundwater availability, estimate subsidence, and assess various desired future conditions (DFCs) and modeled available groundwater (MAG) determinations to guide groundwater regulation and policy.
We also perform site-specific, local modelling to assess well-field hydraulic conditions, determine ideal placement of wells, perform dewatering and depressurization analyses for mines, and evaluate contaminant fate and transport.
Data Collection, Analysis, and Management
Utilizing geographic information systems (GIS), computer-aided design (CAD), and database management platforms, we create and manage robust datasets, generate applicable work products, and provide quality control and assurance (QA/QC). Resulting work products include quadrangle and surficial geology maps, geologic cross sections, hydrographs, well construction diagrams, and statistical plots for water level and quality data investigation and analysis.
Groundwater Availability Assessments
Our specialty involves assessments of hydrogeologic and lithologic settings, aquifer hydraulic and use characteristics, mass-balance groundwater accounting, historic and projected groundwater usage and demand, and water quality evaluations of both artificial and natural stimuli to groundwater systems. Specifically, TGI has conducted large scale evaluations for portions of the Carrizo, Wilcox, Simsboro, Edwards-Trinity Plateau, Sparta, Hueco Bolson, Trinity and Gulf Coast (specifically the Evangeline and Jasper) aquifers.
Regulatory and Permitting Assistance
TGI has represented both public and private clients before the majority of Groundwater Conservation Districts across Texas. We provide expert technical counsel and opinion regarding new drilling and production permits, historic use permits, and ongoing regulatory rule making. Both open and SOAH meetings and hearings are in our list of credentials and expertise. We also provide technical assistance for certification of groundwater resources in commercial and residential development projects.
Well and Well Field Design, Construction, and Monitoring
In over 20 years of business, TGI has sited, designed, and been on site for drilling and construction of hundreds of public supply, private, and irrigation wells across the mid-Southern United States. From 5 gallons per minute to 5,000 we have seen and been involved with wells and systems of all sizes, purposes, and costs.
